An Overview of the Edge Youth Groups

Check out the "For Leaders" page for more information about specific activities, topics, and Care Group questions to go over with your young people.

THE EDGE HIGH SCHOOL IGNITION (Sunday Evening)

Youth Praise at Edgewater ChurchThe Edge HS Ignition is our central program for high school students with a laid back and fun feel. It is the place where students connect with God and each other. Ignition includes worship in a style students enjoy, Christ-centered teaching and learning experiences, fun activities, and Care Groups. The Gospel or Good News of Jesus Christ is shared and an opportunity to respond is offered each time students gather.

Ignition begins at 6:30pm and ends at 8:30pm. Students are encouraged to come early and stay after as the doors open at 6pm and the building closes at 9pm. The Loft upstairs game room, the Sand Bar (reasonably priced snacks and beverages), and the new multi-purpose room are also open 30 minutes prior to and after Ignition. (The Sand Bar is closed after Ignition.)

THE EDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL INVASION (Wednesday Evening)

The Edge MS Invasion is our central program for middle school students with a high energy and fun feel. It is the place where students connect with God and each other. The Invasion includes worship in a style students enjoy, Christ-centered teaching and learning experiences, crazy games and activities, and Care Groups. The Gospel or Good News of Jesus Christ is shared and an opportunity to respond is offered each time students gather.

The Invasion begins at 6:30pm and ends at 8:45pm. Students are encouraged to come early as the doors open at 6pm. The building closes at 8:45pm. The Loft upstairs game room, the Sand Bar (reasonably priced snacks and beverages), and the new multi-purpose room are also open 30 minutes prior to the Invasion.

An Overview of Sunday AM

9:30AM WORSHIP

Most students attend this worship service and we encourage them to do so with their families rather than view youth groups or LIFE Groups as a substitute for "BIG church" attendance. Statistics show that more than 50% of students who graduate high school also "graduate" from church and sometimes even their faith because, among other factors, student ministry often becomes compartmentalized. The "teens are better seen and not heard" mentality often leaves them unconnected to the church as a whole. At Edgewater we strive to be sure students and adults know that young people are not just the church of tomorrow, they are the church of today, and they have a voice!

As students come to meet and know Jesus Christ, we also want them to discover how God has gifted them to serve Him and others. There are many ways for students to get plugged in and serve inside and outside the walls of Edgewater!

LIFE GROUPS

These Sunday AM conversations are offered every month in an effort to help students Live In Faith Everyday. Beginning this Fall, we'll again offer seperate groups for both high school and middle school ages.

An Overview of Other Key Programs

OVER THE EDGE

A monthly Friday outreach event that includes fun events students bring their friends to like 5th Quarter (fun, friends, and food after some home games), putt-putt golf, bowling, lazer tag, Water Wars (Bring Your Own Balloons), and so much more! Sometimes Over the Edge will happen on campus, while we will often go off campus and meet students where they are. Once a month we will also hang out at Moe's near Edgewater for Moe Mondays. The Gospel or Good News of Jesus Christ will be shared in words during unique worship experiences called Over the Edge Live for on campus events and in actions and deeds at off campus events.

SMALL GROUPS

We currently offer one small group Bible study at the Suite's, starting most Tuesday nights this Fall. Small groups are the next step in helping students who want to go deeper to grow in their faith while having fun, too!

Please note that there are always ways you can get involved! Lead a Care Group, a LIFE Group, or Student Ministry Team or help behind the scenes with organization, administration, follow-up, and more!
