From the Neighborhood to the Nations

Jesus commands us to help those in need.  He said it was one of the ways others would know that we were His followers.

Thrift Store

The Sparrow’s Nest is not only a store, it’s a place where people come to say hello, get a hug or a shoulder to cry on and share prayer requests.  The generous donations are sorted daily for sale in the store, given to community members in need or given to local and international mission groups.  We are always looking for volunteers and bring along your smile.

Bike Ministry

Our bike ministry repairs hundreds of bikes a year.  Bikes are given to our homeless friends, migrant workers, senior adults and children (for Christmas and as incentives for improved performance in school).  We work on the first come, first serve basis because there is such a need.  It takes us all week to get ready for Wednesday morning.

Start The Adventure In Reading (S.T.A.I.R.) is an after school tutorial reading program for second graders.  S.T.A.I.R. volunteers tutor children (chosen by the teachers) on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year.   If you enjoy working with children consider becoming a tutor.

Food Pantry

We try to help those that find themselves in a bind because of the economy and/or loss of a job.    Edgewater partners with Harry Chapin Food Bank to help you through this tough time.  You will need a Charlotte County picture identification when you visit our pantry and are eligible one time per month to stop by for food. This Institution is an EOP {Equal Opportunity Provider}.

Detailed brochures are available in the lobby.
