Welcome to Our First Edgewater News Update!
Hey, Edgewater!
Welcome to the first edition of our E-News update!
This has been a bit of a burning challenge for me almost since I arrived at Edgewater, which, can you believe, is almost three years!
See, what I believe is one of the biggest challenges for our church, and a whole lot of churches, is simply sharing information.
After discussing this with our staff and some members of our Guide Team, I’m hoping that this little experiment might help us there. It’s worth a shot anyway!
Going forward, you’re going to receive a video message just like this every Friday. We’re also going to include a transcribed or written version for those of us who prefer reading, or maybe in case we want to go back and grab something we missed in the video, because you know I talk too fast!
Most of the time, it’ll be me sharing, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be moments when you see Pastor Josh, our lay leader Mike Watson, or maybe somebody else I can get in here to talk.
The goal is to share upcoming information and get us all ready for that weekly family reunion we have, this thing we call Sunday morning worship.
I truly hope this little experiment will help us be the best-informed disciples of Jesus we can be.
So, with all that being said, here are a few things for this weekend and maybe one or two other things for you future planners!
Women of Worth Breakfast | Saturday, November 7, at 9:00 AM
This Saturday is another full day on our church campus!
Our Women of Worth (W.O.W.) monthly breakfast begins at 9:00 AM, and ladies, there is still time to sign up!
And listen, even if you haven’t signed up or can’t sign up, I invite you to stop on in. Spend some time in fellowship and faith formation.
I happen to know personally that the devotional leader this week is pretty amazing.
It’s Joy, my wife!
Edgewater Farmers Market | Saturday, November 7
Also this Saturday, we’re going to continue seeing God’s glory all over our Farmers Market!
Did you know that last week, nearly 20 folks were prayed for just in our little prayer area?
And the biggest celebration, and ultimately why we’re doing all of this, is that somebody gave their life to Jesus!
That’s right! They got saved at a Farmers Market!
We’re always looking for folks to help pull this thing off each week. So, if you can give one Saturday a month, or maybe more, stop by and talk to the team on Saturday.
And even if you can’t do that, stop by, pick up some goods from our community partners, and see what’s going on here.
It’s really exciting!
Church Family Meeting | Sunday, November 15, at 4:00 PM
For those of you future planners, circle Sunday, November 15, on your calendar because that’s when we’re going to have our next Family Meeting!
These are those quarterly opportunities we have to hear about what’s happening in our church, chew on dreams and plans, and maybe even ask some questions you have for the leaders of our church.
We’re going to meet at 4:00 PM in the Worship Center, again, Sunday, November 15.
Preparing for Sunday Worship | Psalm 23:2–3
Finally, as we prepare for worship this week, I want to invite you to continue with us in our series through Psalm 23.
We’re going to be looking specifically at verses 2 and 3 and how the Good Shepherd renews His flock.
At the close of worship this week, I’m going to share some staff additions and then invite you to join me in prayers of blessing over these new folks as they step in to serve and bless our church.
Until Sunday, Edgewater!
That’s probably plenty for week one of this Edgewater E-News!
We’re going to have to come up with a better name at some point!
But for now, I hope this has been helpful and will continue to be a helpful resource for our church as we step into this calling, this calling as a family, a family called Edgewater.
So, until Sunday, know I’m praying for you. And I really mean it when I say I’m praying for you.
I’m already looking forward to worshiping together.
As King David said:
“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the LORD!'”
Psalm 122:1 (ESV)
And I’m going to be super glad to see you at our church home on Sunday!
Until then, grace and peace, and I love you tons!
Pastor Jim
